‘We share an effortless chemistry’
Lady luck has certainly been by actress Deepika Padukone’s side this year. With four of her movies becoming big hits this year, the actress now hopes that luck will continue to be by her side during the release of her new film Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
From acting in Om Shanti Om to Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Deepika has come a long way and the Bangalore-lass admits that during her journey, she has had to make a lot of sacrifices especially when it comes to spending time with family.
“This year has been a good one for me. At the same time, it has been difficult because more work means lesser time with family. That’s really important for me but at the end of the day, there’s no better feeling than seeing how proud they are of me and that makes everything worth it,” she says.
Reaching the 100-crore club means nothing for the actress. “I feel people should stop using the term ‘100 crore club’ itself. I don’t think the success of a movie can be determined by the amount of money it makes. It has to be a combination of a good story and the money. At least for me, as an actress, I would be happy if a movie of mine which is backed by a good story makes good money,” she explains.
“Working with a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an experience by itself. Till now, I was used to a certain method of acting. But with him, one had to come to the set with a blank slate. There is no preparation because his mind is working all the time. You may come to the sets thinking today is going to be a small scene but upon reaching, he will hand you a two-page dialogue sheet,” she says.
With her and Ranveer’s on-screen and off-screen chemistry being the talk of the town, Deepika says that it was needed for a movie like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
“The movie is an intense and passionate love story. And for it to work, chemistry is an important factor. That’s why I am glad that we share an effortless chemistry,” she says and adds, “now with the movie releasing, I am happy and sad. Happy because it is a beautiful movie, which we hope will be enjoyed by all and sad because it also means that this will be the end of the Ram-Leela journey.”
