[ARTICLE] Deepika Padukone Is A Busy Bee

A couple of months back, we heard how Deepika Padukone collapsed on the sets of her movie owing to exertion. She was suffering from fever yet was working. She was overworked and she still is overworked. After back to back hits last year, she is one of the most sought after actresses. No wonder that she is right now juggling three projects Tamasha, Piku and Bajirao Mastani.

Deepika Padukone is already shooting Tamasha, an Imtiaz Ali film with Ranbir Kapoor in France. Being an intense love story, she is putting all her efforts into it. Post the first schedule, she flew back to Mumbai to adhere to her brand endorsement timelines. She endorses nearly 17 brands including Axis Bank, Coca Cola, Kelloggs K, Van Huesen, Vogue Eyewear to name a few. She flew down here to shoot a few of the ads. She wants to wrap up everything before she begins the next schedule of Tamasha.

Apart from that, Deepika Padukone also needs to do a few patch work for Happy New Year and Finding Fanny which are ready for release this year.

[ARTICLE] Finding Fanny to premiere 17 days in advance

Jul 28, 2014, 12.00AM IST TNN[ Hiren Kotwani ]

In an unprecedented move in Bollywood, the premiere of Finding Fanny will be held on August 25, 17 days before its release date.

The decision was taken after the film‘s trailer garnered a positive response.

Says Producer Dinesh Vijan, “Premiering a film two weeks before its release has never been done before in Bollywood, but we are willing to stick our necks out. We want opinion makers and regular moviegoers to share their views. Hope this strategy generates an actively interested forum for Finding Fanny.”
Shikha Kapur, chief marketing officer of Fox Star Studios, adds, “A story this strong deserves a unique marketing approach. So, we are inverting the normal course of promotional campaigns and will commence ours with the premiere of the film.”

The movie, directed by Homi Adajania, stars Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia, and will be released in Hindi and English. A comical tale, it narrates the story of five oddballs who venture out in search of Stefanie Fernandes (Fanny). The film traces their journey as the characters find meaning to their otherwise pointless lives.

Finding Fanny, produced by Maddock Films and Fox Star Studios, releases September 12.

Deepika Padukone missing Mumbai rains
Deepika Padukone

Deepika is missing Bombay rains as she is away shooting for Tamasha on a long schedule in Corsica, France.

The city has been witnessing heavy showers this month but Deepika left for her shoot in July and has been there since.
Deepika loves the monsoon season and also the view from her house during the rains. She stays in a high-rise building which overlooks the sea.

She usually sits in her balcony in the mornings with her filter coffee and watches the rain.
The ace actor will be back in Mumbai by August. However she will have little time to herself because once she wraps shooting for Tamasha, she will start shooting for ShoojitSircar’sPiku.
Missing the monsoons, Deepika says, “I love the monsoons and I thoroughly miss being in Mumbai during this time. I’ll try and make the most of it on my return.”

Finding Fanny: Trailer is a huge hit- Times of India

Finding Fanny: Trailer is a huge hit
Finding Fanny

Hits so far: 3.5 million and counting

Our pick of the trailer this month is Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny. He has earlier directed Being Cyrus and Cocktail. What makes this trailer special is its quirky absurdist humour that instantly connects with its target audience, the multiplex goer.

With three legends, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia in their unique avatars, along with the mad-looking Arjun Kapoor with the beautiful Deepika Padukone, the trailer certainly makes you want to see the film. My favourite in the trailer is Pankaj Kapur ogling at Dimple and the shot of her hiding her slit skirt at the back with her hand fan. It seems to be a mad film made by a somewhat mad bawa himself.

Interestingly, while in the film Fanny is the name of a girl, in America, it is the slang for bum and, in England the slang for vagina, apart from the fact that the famous Italian footballer Mario Balotelli’s girlfriend is Fanny Neguesha. Talking to us about what makes the trailer work, the filmmaker said, “This film has come out of the warmth of my heart and the madness in my head but I think what makes this trailer work is that it’s quirky, absurdist humour has struck a chord with people who like this kind of cinema and has thus created a word of mouth for the film. The sweetest message I have got is ‘Everyday I get up seeing the trailer as it puts a smile on my face before I start the rest of the day.'” Talking about the name Fanny, he said, “Tomorrow I could make a film called Finding Dick, which could be about people searching for a guy called Richard (Dick is the pet name for Richard in the US). In our film Fanny is the pet name for Stefanie.”

[ARTICLE] SRK, Deepika, Abhishek to Perform in San Jose, California

Updated 21 hours ago

San Leandro, Calif. — Shah Rukh Khan is returning to California to headline a live concert after a gap of 10 years, according to the local promoters of his “SLAM: Sound, Light, Action, Music” show. Although Khan has been in and out of the state occasionally, including to shoot the 2010 drama “My Name Is Khan” on location in San Francisco, this is a rare opportunity to see the megastar onstage.

DBR Entertainment and Red Chilies Entertainment announced July 21 that “SLAM” will also feature actors Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Malaika Arora Khan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, “Happy New Year” newcomer Vivaan Shah and “Ragini MMS 2” item girl Kanika Kapoor; “Happy New Year” director Farah Khan Kunder, and pop star Yo Yo Honey Singh.

The tour starts Sept. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston and goes to the Continental Arena, New Jersey, Sept. 20; the Air Canada Center, Toronto, Sept. 21; the Sears Center Arena, Chicago, Sept. 26; the Pacific National Exhibition Center in Vancouver, BC Sept. 27; and the SAP Center in downtown San Jose Sept. 28.

Khan said in a statement July 21: “I am blessed to get a lot of love and support from people around the world. This is our way of giving this love back and thanking you all.

“I am super excited and looking forward to being in your city along with the director and the cast of our next film, ‘Happy New Year,’ and my colleagues Farah, Deepika, Malaika, Abhishek, Boman, Sonu, Vivaan, Kanika and Honey Singh.

“We promise you an evening of love, laughter and entertainment. So mark your calendar and be there at SLAM, the tour.”

Bikram Jeet Singh, one of three cofounders of DBR Entertainment, told India-West by phone, “This is probably the most expensive [Bollywood] show ever presented in North America, twice as expensive as the ‘Unforgettable’ Amitabh Bachchan show in 2008.”

Adds DBR cofounder Rana Atwal, “Earlier, the stars would have around 14-15 shows at a minimum. But now, they’re only

bringing six shows to the biggest [North American] cities, due to their tight schedules.” Cofounder Dave Atwal added that he is confident that “SLAM” will mark another success for DBR following their presentation of numerous ambitious star shows in North America.

DBR Entertainment has brought many of India’s top artists to the U.S. and Canada, including “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” stars, pop star Raghav, many top Punjabi artists including Gurdas Maan; Sukhwinder Singh; the 2008 “Unforgettable” show with Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai; “Wanted” (2000) with Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla; and “Millennium Masti” (2000) with Salman Khan among other shows.
